Blurb:

Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court-but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms-and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world torn apart.

Review/ Reaction:

*Minor Spoilers Ahead*

First off, I'd like to thank my amazing bookstagram fam for convincing me to give this book a chance because if you’ve been following me you know that I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one. But WOW. This. Book.Was. INCREDIBLE!!!!

I’m blown away. When I finished reading it I screamed, I cried, and jumped on my bed because the ending was all those emotions in one 😂 and then I wanted to sit my booty down and read it again. Now I understand all you ACOMAF lovers. I get it. I am with you 🙌🏼.

My darling Feyre how I misjudged you in ACOTAR because I didn’t understand you but now I do. So, so much. The aftermath of Feyre’s time Under The Mountain was heartbreaking 😢😔. It didn’t help that her betrothed was a selfish, egotistical idiot who chose to be blind to Feyre suffering and focus on keeping her “safe” 🤨😒. Her journey in this book was tough but beautiful and so realistic considering everything she had been through. I realized that I saw so much of myself in her and a lot of her scenes made me really sad 😭

All is good though. I’m cool. 🤧 The important thing is that she triumphed with the help of her new friends: Cassian, Azriel, Mor & Amren-4 of the most badass supporting characters I’ve ever met and with the help of my new favorite person The High Lord of the Night Court.

* 🎤Sings, “Let’ssss talkkkkk aboooouuuut RHYSAND. I can’t even label him a book boyfriend. Honestly, he's a whole book Husband okay? And he deserves EVERYTHING. Maas molded this man into everything I never thought I needed. How he took care of Feyre, challenged her and taught her to embrace powers even in darkness.

"There are different kinds of darkness," Rhys said. I kept my eyes shut. "There is the darkness that frightens, the darkness that soothes, the darkness that is restful...There is the darkness of lovers, and the darkness of assassins. It becomes what the bearer wishes it to be, needs it to be." (Pg 300)

Even if some of his reasons seemed selfish, he was looking out for her. He helped her realize that she could stand on her own. Everything we learned about him in Chapter 54: The horrors he faced when he sacrificed himself for his friends, family and his court 😩. Can book chapters be nominated for an Oscar award or something? Because Chapter 54 & 55 were trophy worth. Like for real!!

Overall, I found the story to be so much better paced than ACOTAR, the character development was so good, this one was so much more action-packed oh and super 🔥🔥🔥 HOT too! 😏😉🙈. Horrific truths and beautiful lies were revealed. I LOVE a good enemies-to-lovers trope. Feyre & Rhysand are now on my list of favorites. Their slow burn romance was perfection ❤️. And that ending???? WOW 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼ACOMAF is definitely one of the BEST sequels I’ve ever read.

“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys.”

He picked up his glass, his gaze so piercing that I wondered why I had bothered blushing at all for Tarquin. Rhys clinked his glass against mine.

“To the stars who listen--and the dreams that are answered.” (337)

🔹Would I recommend it? HELL YES!!!

🔹Re-read it?: Absolutely! I plan to as soon as I get through my super long TBR list 🤣

🔹Scene Shout-Out: The Battle in Velaris was incredibly well written. Like are you kidding? One of the best and most dramatic battles that's ever been written honestly.

If you've already read A Court of Mist and Fury check out my list of Shocking/Wtf & Swoon-Worthy moments below!

*Warning Major Spoilers Below*

Shocking/WTF/ Swoon-Worth Moments

🔹In ACOTAR Tamlin mentions that his family was killed by a rival family. In ACOMAF we learn the real truth: that Tamlin's family was murdered BECAUSE THEY murdered Rhysand's mother and sister. By now you should know that Rhysand had the most beautiful relationship with his mother and this absolutely broke me.

"They put their heads in boxes and sent them down the river--to the nearest camp. Tamlin's father kept their wings as trophies" (449).

🔹 Learning that Cassian took Mor's virginity (with her consent) because she wanted to decide her own future and what her family did to her as a result.

The fact Azriel found her and he sort of loves her makes their relationship so damn interesting but I love how well they all get along despite of it ❤️

🔹Tamlin agreeing to help King of Hybern cross over and destroy the human lands in exchange for Feyre's capture and return to him....

^Enough said^

🔹Finding out that Rhysand and Feyre are mates & that Rhysand had known since the day they said good-bye after being freed from Under the Mountain but never said anything because he didn't want her to think that his love for her was false and didn't want the mating bond knowledge to influence her decision because he felt he didn't deserve her.

🔹This energy:

Rhys's eyes darkened, and I knew he read what I thought, felt. "You might be my mate," he said, "but you remain your own person. You decide your fate--your choices. Not me. You chose yesterday. You choose every day. Forever" (577)

🔹THE LAST LINE:

And so Tamlin unwittingly led the High Lady of the Night Court into the heart of his territory.
