Review & Reaction:

This final installment of the Wicked Novellas picks up right where The King left off with Brighton reeling from life-altering news & recovering from the physical & emotional scars left from her time with Aric. This one was a lot more slow-paced than the previous ones as it focuses more on Caden & Brighton’s relationship.

Caden is so loving & gentle with Brighton. I absolutely adored how he took care of her whenever she struggled with a memory or hallucination.

“It’s okay. I’m here. I’ve got you. I’ve always got you.”

His “I-Don’t-Give-a-Fuck-If-I-Look-Weak-&-The-Love-of-My-Life-is-Having-a-Mental-Breakdown-in-Front-of-Everyone-I’m-Going-To-Be-There”attitude made me love him more than I thought I could 😍

WE STAN a physically & emotionally protective King okurrrr?

As much as I love and admire their love and dedication to one another, I was frustrated with them a lot until I realized how crazy alike these two are 😂. They are both stubborn as hell. Brighton listened to people who gave 0 shits about her (let’s be honest they cared more about their Court than her) & kept vital information from Caden AND was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his entire Court without knowing his stance on something that absolutely required one. While Caden kept vital information from her that could’ve prevented her from making certain decisions just because he didn’t feel as though she was ready to hear them 🙄.

However, their passionate love-making scenes were 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I wanted more😭 🙈 😂

I will say that the promotional blurb is a bit misleading as I was expecting a battle or the start of war & an insane sacrifice from one of our MCs but in reality the conflict was resolved fairly quickly. The villain was not as surprising to me when revealed but I was still a little shocked at the extent of their involvement.

The epilogue in Caden’s POV was GOLD. I would’ve LOVED to have read the entire final installment from his POV.

I still have some questions and I have a feeling that this won’t be the last time we hear about these characters. Jennifer has a knack for surprise releases and if she were to ever dive back into this world I would not hesitate to jump right back in!
